8th edition of the International Classification of Goods & Services
As of June 16, 2003 the Trademark Office adopted a new classification of goods and services to conform to the 8th edition of the Nice Classification System.
The new classification of goods and services increased the number of classes by splitting local service class 35 into 11 separate service classes 35 to 45. This new classification system affects all trademark applications and renewals filed on or after that date.
